Nasa fcu online banking login3/10/2024 I've shifted the Amex as my primary business account and will likely keep the Comerica or US Bank account for cash deposits and be an airgap/firewall account between Amex and services like PayPal Business, Venmo Business and Zelle. Rates are now at 1.3% and I think it's a good business checking account as it offers fast ACH transfer times, high mobile check deposit limit, unlimited transactions and has a lower merchant fee for their invoicing service than the likes of PayPal and Square. I also have an account at Amex Business Checking which I got because of the bonus and at the time high yield interest (1% interest back when rates were. I also use this account as an airgap/firewall account between my primary checking and peer to peer payment services like PayPal, Venmo and Zelle.įor business checking, I use Comerica but am thinking of moving to US Bank for consolidation plus US Bank is offering a $500 sign up bonus. Anyway while I haven't had to step inside a physical branch in years, it's useful for depositing checks that exceed your mobile check deposit limit (I ran into this when depositing a life insurance check), getting a medallion stamp (Treasury Direct), depositing cash, wiring money, getting a cashiers check or opening a safety deposit box. In general I don't use these accounts other than to pay taxes, handle my investments, act as a backup checking/savings and to use the Schwab debit for when I travel.įor physical branch access I use a local credit union, though I'm thinking of consolidating to US Bank since I already have a pair of credit cards (Cash+ and Altitude Go) and their Smartly Checking account waives the $6.95/month account fee if you have their credit card, plus there is a $600 sign up bonus right now. I also use the Discover checking for the 1% cashback on debit for when I pay estimated taxes. I also kept that original Discover account and use it as an alternate savings location when MMF rates aren't on par with high yield savings. I also have read some data points of users being banned from Schwab or Fidelity for some questionable movement of money and while I don't think I do anything egregious, I do like signing up for account bonuses and do move large sums of money so would rather not risk it with my primary brokerage. If my primary ever gets hacked or locked, I wouldn't want to tie up the majority of my net worth just for added convenience. Anyway I thought about making Schwab or Fidelity my one stop shop but decided it's better to have a layer of separation between my day to day banking and my investments. I read a post that grandfathered accounts will be charged, but I'm hoping they will reverse course. Because of the $20 ATM fee reimbursement I also carry this debit card as part of my everyday carry.įor backup checking, savings (via MMFs) and general investment I use Schwab though I may move to Fidelity as I like their CMA and may move my HSA to them, but am holding off until it's confirmed whether Lively will charge grandfathered accounts a fee for not maintaining a $3K cash balance when they migrate my account to Schwab. I generally use this account for direct deposit, autodrafts and bill pay and their credit card for Costco and general spending. The only major con with them is their interest rates as of late aren't as competitive as say Discover (3.10% vs 3.5%) and you can't disable your debit card. I also contemplated going with Ally as it shares many of the same traits as Alliant, but Alliant's 2% Visa (now 2.5%), $20/month vs $10/month ATM fee reimbursement and the ability to deposit cash made the difference. Alliant on the other hand had no difficulty linking to my business account, plus offered 1 business day ACH transfer times, high ACH transfer limits and a high mobile check deposit limit. I tried to use Discover since I already had a credit card with them but the low mobile check deposit, low ACH transfer limit, slow ACH transfer times and inability to link accounts that did not match my name such as with my business checking made it unviable. For primary checking and savings and hub account I use Alliant Credit Union.
